After my last 1990′s advertisement discovery, I got the urge to rifle through some of my more choice back issues to find some more radical examples of terrible marketing from the neon decade. In Iron Man #290, the “30th Anniversary Issue” I came across this full page ad for Skybox’s X-Men Series II Trading Cards.

You so what they did there? They totally just shit on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! As someone who collected the entirety of the Marvel Series II cards and even got the GI JOE boxed set for Easter one year, I vividly recall how much these ridiculously phrased advertisements compelled me to nag my parents until I gobbled up every damn foil pack at the 7-11. Come to think of it all those holo-foil cards have probably fully decomposed in the Tullytown landfill.
